Cut to Netflix fist pumping…

No surprises that Netflix has seen a huge increase in business ever since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, with countless people taking to their computer and TV screens to pass the time while confined to their homes. It’s a bottomless pit of films, shows, docos and everything in between. It’s a true distraction in every sense of the word, and has been working overtime to look after us during these trying times.

More than 15.7 million people have signed up for the streaming service in just the first three months of 2020, which was a huge record for the streaming giant. It added 2.3 million people in the US and Canada in the first quarter of the year, and 13.5 million in the rest of the world. It’s now standing at 182.6 million global subscribers.

The giant has predicted approximately 7.5 million new subscribers and $9.5 billion in sales, generating a $1.3 billion profit.

But it looks like we won’t be getting much new stuff in the Netflix original department, with the business putting all productions on hold, yet continuing to pay staff from it’s $250 million fund. Super dope.

They’ve also got a heap of new titles dropping on the service in May, check the full list out here.
