The film is based on the ludicrous true story of Ron Stallworth, an African-American detective who infiltrated one of the most hostile chapters of the Ku Klux Klan. The film looks like it has sliced together a variety of film genres, turning it into something uniquely Spike Lee.
The auteur’s last effort is already starting to garner a lot of buzz after its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, with critics calling it Lee’s best film in years.
