Definitely gonna be a unique season…

Everyone’s favourite awkward comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm is about to wrap filming for its new season, and we’ve started getting some tasty deets about what we can expect from the new episodes. Speaking to The Ringer‘s ’10 Questions with Kyle Brandt’ Podcast, Curb actor Jeff Garlin gave a preview of what the new episodes will cover; specifically, how they’re gonna tackle the issue of COVID-19 and when we can expect them to air on TV.

“I want to say that except for the first episode, we don’t do any COVID stuff. The first episode it touches on, there’s a couple of things. But it’s a post-COVID world in Curb,” Garlin said.

He also referenced South Park’s handling of COVID-19, stating that watching the cartoon stumble when covering the pandemic convinced him that Curb was making the right choice, saying “South Park had the first COVID issue they did — so well written, so well done. I didn’t laugh once. People don’t want to watch COVID stories. We’ve got our own COVID stories. Get them away from me.”

But of course, it wouldn’t be a Curb Your Enthusiasm interview without a reference to comedy god Larry David, with Garlin stressing that“Everything is based on what Larry wants to write, and then he writes it. I would’ve, yes, probably disagreed with him if he had a lot of COVID stuff. And we have so much respect… I’m not gonna say listened, but he would’ve taken that seriously.”

Hopefully the show manages to find a good balance while still having that classic Curb flair when it returns at the end of the year. Check out Garlin talk the new season below.
