A much-anticipated follow-up to No Way Home…

Marvel Studios has today released the first trailer for its upcoming superhero flick, Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness. The clip, which premiered at the Super Bowl this morning, sees Benedict Cumberbatch return as the titular reality-bender to face the consequences of his multiversal antics in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The film, which marks Marvel’s second entry into the Doctor Strange canon, is set to welcome a host of new heroes, with Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff appearing alongside Cumberbatch in the new trailer. Sam Raimi will return to the director’s chair after his work on the original Spider-Man trilogy, but fans are perhaps most excited by one voice heard off-camera in the clip.

Patrick Stewart, who played Professor X in X-Men, is set to make an appearance in Marvel’s latest offering, with loads more cameos also rumoured to be included in the The Multiverse of Madness (including Tom Cruise as an alternate Iron Man). While Marvel has kept tight-lipped on the specifics of the film, the trailer promises a stack of splintering realities, universe crossovers and, as is customary for the MCU, a big ass budget. The film is set to hit cinemas on May 6, and you can catch all the action below.
