Production has come to a half on Ellen DeGeneres’ show after the controversial TV host announced she tested positive for COVID-19.
Taking to Twitter, the 61-year-old wrote “Hi everyone. I want to let you all know that I tested positive for COVID-19,” DeGeneres announced on Twitter today. Fortunately, I’m feeling fine right now. Anyone who has been in close contact with me has been notified, and I am following all the proper CDC guidelines. I’ll see you all again after the holidays. Please stay healthy and safe.”
The shutdown comes after Ellen was enjoying mad high ratings thanks to the show’s annual “12 Days of Giveaways” series, which definitely meant a lot more to her after a year filled with allegations of racism, sexual misconduct and other workplace problems dominating the mainstream and essentially making Ellen enemy number one in the public eye.
The news also comes as cases soar in the US, with the country facing more than 15.4 million cases and 289,970 deaths. Ellen now joins the likes of Tom Hanks, Idris Elba, Kanye West and countless more who have tested positive for the virus.
