The weather this weekend is looking about as grey as it comes, but the forecast on Stan is looking pretty dang appealing.
Personally, I find there are three perfect times to binge down hard: when you’re hung, when the weather is terrible and when you have a million things you should be doing. This weekend I’m going for the trifecta, so if you’re trying to reach me, don’t bother, I’ll be immersed in the list below:
The Good Lord Bird
A practically unrecognisable Ethan Hawk is incredible as the god-fearing abolitionist gunslinger John Brown in this drama. Told from the perspective of “Onion”, a freed slave that Brown believes is good luck, the first two eps feature plenty of shooting, preaching and Cohen Brothers-esque humour.

The Dish
First we had The Castle, then we had The Dish – another legendary Aussie classic that is based on the true story of Australia’s role in the 1969 moon landing. With Sam Neil and Patrick Warburton leading a cast of Aussie actors that have between them featured in pretty much every Aussie TV show ever, the film nails Australia’s “battler” spirit perfectly.

How have I only just discovered this show? Following clearly-not-actual-13-year-olds Maya and Anna, as they navigate being uncool in high school in the year 2000. It’s ruthlessly funny and comes with all the early-2000s catchphrases you’d forgotten about, not to mention it’s a great escape from 2020 which has been incredibly shite.

Total Recall
So your weekend is now sorted, as there is undeniably on better way to spend your time than watching Arnie crack skulls on Mars and deliver plenty of classic one-liners. Fun fact it also features Dean Norris (Hank from Breaking Bad) about fifteen years before he was serving up Scraderbraus to the world.
