Ideal candidates, TBH.

No matter what your political leanings are, there’s no doubt that we’ve just witnessed one of the most bizarre elections in American political history.

After all, nobody would have guessed that a man who was on the receiving end of a Stone Cold Stunner at Wrestlemania 23 would eventually become the ruler of the free world. It really is a fascinating case study into the culture of celebrity, and seeing as Trump gained much of his mainstream attention through shows like The Apprentice, we’ve taken a look at five other entertainers who have announced their Presidential plans.

While much of the world is currently weeping over President Trump, we’ll have to push extra hard for these five candidates to get into office come 2020. See it all below, right after this video clip of ‘Fuck Donald Trump’ by YG. Give us more of that West Coast bounce, please:

PARIS HILTON

Paris Hilton campaigned for President back in 2008 with the persuasive music video above, and in the wake of Trump’s election, she’s once again announced her plan to step into office come 2020. Taking to Instagram, Paris unveiled her slogan – ‘Make America Hot Again’ – as well as some of her policy decisions. The most important of these include her plans to “paint The White House pink” – so we can definitely see that her priorities are in order. If you’d like to discuss trade agreements and foreign policy with Paris, she’ll be embarking on a DJ tour of Australia next week. We’ll be there with bells on.

WAKA FLOCKA FLAME & RIC FLAIR

Waka Flocka Flame has been tweeting about running for President since 2012, and on April 20th 2015, he announced that he was running for President in 2016. The date was no coincidence – his first order was to legalise marijuana, while he also wanted to ban dogs in restaurants and people with Size 13 feet from walking on the sidewalk. “I don’t wanna see your big ass feet taking up all the space on the concrete,” he explained to Rolling Stone. His other proposed changes included freeing Palestine and raising the minimum wage.

While he didn’t make it into office in 2016 – he won’t actually be old enough until 2024 – Flocka has recruited some help from a veteran for his next campaign. In perhaps what may be the weirdest and best video of all time, he teamed up with former 16-time World Heavyweight Champion, Ric Flair for a promotional video. The Nature Boy injected some great banter into Flocka’s campaign as well as a new slogan, ‘Make America WOO Again’. This is a cause we can all get behind.

THE ROCK

Many have toyed with the idea of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson being President – he’s not called The People’s Champ for nothing. After calls for his election began to mount, he officially addressed the situation with optimism. “This interesting ground swell that has happened on the idea of me being President one day has become a legit thing to some people… If it is a very real, overwhelming, positive, strong, ‘We want you to run for president,’ and if I felt that I can step up to the plate and become a tremendous leader for our country and make a real difference and make change, I would do it,” he said. Could you imagine how ~lit~ his Presidential speech would be? Massive vibes all round.

KANYE WEST

When Kanye West announced his intention to run for President last year, many scoffed at the idea and labelled it another one of his maniac rants. Still, it was enough to have retailers producing ‘Kanye 2020’ shirts – and after Trump’s election, the calls for Yeezus to take head office are becoming louder. His music has always had a political tinge and highlighted the struggles of the black experience, and he famously dissed George Bush after Hurricane Katrina. His ideas make a lot of sense, as he explained to BBC: “We are numb, we’re numb to 500 kids getting killed in Chicago a year, we’re numb to the fact that it was seven police shootings in the beginning of July… we’re numb to places on the Earth that we don’t live — like our life is okay but it’s okay for other people’s lives to not be okay,” he said.

“When I talk about the idea of being President, I’m not saying I have any political views. I don’t have views on politics, I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the truth. If there is anything that I can do with my time and my day, to somehow make a difference while I’m alive I’m going to try to do it, he added. Hey, it makes more sense than anything we’ve heard in this election, so don’t rule him out.
