Featuring Sir Davos, Samwell Tarley and a couple more familiar faces…

After absolutely shitting the bed with the final season of Game of Thrones and disappearing from the face of the Earth in its aftermath, the show runners of the once beloved fantasy show, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, have finally returned with a new sci-fi epic.

Produced as a part of their new deal with Netflix, the series, titled 3 Body Problem, is based on the best selling trilogy of books and follows how a young woman’s decision in 1960’s China creates a bunch of ripples over space and time. Somehow (and cue huge leap of faith), said ripples end up reaching a group of scientists in the present day and cause the laws of nature unravel before their eyes, consequently putting world at stake.

It’s a pretty solid premise, and they’ve amassed some of our favourite actors for the ride. Along with GOT alum Liam Cunningham and John Bradley (Sir Davos and Samwell Tarley), Benedict Wong from Doctor Strange and Eiza González of Ambulance are front and centre for the drama. All of whom get plenty of screen time in the trailer as well, with Wong and González shown to be tracking down the shifts in space time as people start dying, continents begin moving and the sky literally starts turning off.

To be honest, the trailer doesn’t give much more away away in terms of plot, but it treats us to plenty of mind bending visuals and tense exchanges that pique your interest with just the right amount. In other words, its executed totally differently than the last season of GOT, which swapped clever dialogue, visuals and just general story-telling principles for overblown CGI and complete destruction of the show’s best characters.

3 Body Problem is set to land on March 21st. Check out the full trailer below.
