Whether you prefer to get over indulgent with your desserts or prefer the fruity flavours, just about everyone loves Gelato Messina. Even in the wintertime, you’ll find people queuing up in the cold just to eat an even colder dessert, but who cares about body temperature when your tastebuds are having a party and a half? This weekend, Gelato Messina will be hosting a two-day pop-up at their Sydney HQ – teaming up with Melbourne eateries Huxtaburger and Mr. Claws to provide some savoury accompaniments to the sweetness.
Messina Eats is the name of the event, and it’s all going down at 58 Mentmore Avenue in Rosebery on Friday June 17 to Saturday June 18. The menu has now been unveiled to get your mouth salivating, and it looks like an absolute treat. Huxtaburger will be providing beef burgers for a tenner, as well as a spicier option filled with jalapeno and sriracha. There’s also a bean and quinoa burger option for vegeterians and people from Bondi.
Meanwhile, Mr. Claws will take things aquatic with a poached lobster roll doused in buttermilk (drool) and herb dressing, which probably has you thinking about that episode of The Simpsons where Homer purchases Pinchy. Messina will then finish things off with a choc-overload housed in a cone – read below for the full description which sounds extremely lip-smackin.
Each day, it’s kicking off from midday until late – get all the details over on the Facebook event and see the menu in all of its playful glory below. If you can’t make it IRL, then there will also be Deliveroo options available. What a time to be alive:
