Elon Musk, memelord billionaire who’s seemingly incapable of staying out of the news, has once again let his left-field sense of humour drag him into the limelight, with the Tesla head honcho deciding to draw from the adult film world for Twitter’s recent rebrand.
Revamping his latest acquisition under the moniker of ‘X’ (yes, just X), Musk has opened the floodgates for the internet’s trolls. And of course, they’ve come in droves, with many immediately drawing parallels between Twitter’s new name and pornography site, XVideos. Leading them is perhaps the most dangerous funnyman of them all, with hip hop’s favourite cowboy Lil Nas X getting in on the laughs.
Writing online in response to Musk’s move, Nas hilariously joked, “I appreciate Elon renaming the app after me, but this is honestly overwhelming. Since I haven’t released music in 5 years, and Twitter pays you now. I am ready to accept my destiny as Twitter supreme again.”

It seems, however, that despite all the jokes, the social media site is hellbent on ushering in a new era for the platform, with CEO Linda Yaccarino alluding to its potential societal impact, adding that X will “go further, transforming the global town square.”
Still, despite their best intentions, the X video memes literally write themselves. Check out some of our favourites below, and the next time you go to tweet something off your chest, maybe turn on incognito mode to be safe.
We love seeing Xvideos trending. Thanks @elonmusk
