The big draw of Love Island, is well, the island. The island the contestants live on while engaging in all the shenanigans associated with love and reality TV is almost a character itself, with it’s scenic beach views providing the perfect backdrop for the hit reality show. Now, in perhaps one of the most heartbreaking ramifications of COVID-19, Love Island will be swapping the Mediterranean Majorca for a villa in London.
To be fair, the series wasn’t even expected to return this year with the outbreak, but ITV bosses have gotten their Dana White on and gone to huge lengths to ensure filming goes ahead.
Other potential locations include the Isle of Man, the Isle of Wight and Cornwall, which would give us our dose of scenic landscapes and romance inducing backdrops.
Filming is expected to be pushed back to July, while the crisis continues to worse in the UK. Regardless, a source from the show said “The team are still committed to the series airing this summer. The show will go on”.
This is music to our ears, you can bet we’ll be bunkered down in front of the TV when the first episode airs…
