Now comes even more blockbuster news for the Australian actress: She’ll be getting her own Suicide Squad spin-off. It has been revealed that Robbie has inked a deal with Warner Bros for the film, which is in partnership with her own LuckyChap Entertainment brand. Aside from being the protagonist of the spin-off, Robbie will also act as Executive Producer on the project, which will reportedly feature more kick-ass heroines from the DC franchise like Batgirl and Poison Ivy.
Robbie has long expressed her dedication to the Harley Quinn character, stating in April that “I’m so not done playing her yet. I will do whatever I can to keep playing Harley for another couple of years. Until my body gives out and I can’t do it anymore.” It seems like this latest revelation could be the key to the character’s longevity – let’s just hope that Robbie’s spin-off wins a more favourable response from the public than Suicide Squad‘s lukewarm welcome.
