Okay, let’s be real. Creed 1 was amazing, a true breath of fresh air that stayed true to the roots of the franchise while taking it in its own direction. Creed 2 however, just wasn’t as good. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a mad movie and did it’s own thing, but it had nowhere near the amount of heart the OG had. Well, don’t worry about that happening for Creed 3, as a new director has been announced, and we’re certain they’re going to hit the mark and then some.
It turns out the director will be none other than Michael B. Jordan himself, whose been flexing a variety of creative muscles since the first Creed five years ago. The beans were spilled in an interview with Tessa Thompson (who plays Adonis’ love interest Bianca in the Creed franchise), while commenting on Michael B. Jordan being declared People’s 2020 Sexiest Man Alive, saying “I’m going to give him a lot of crap about it in person. I need to start developing, like, pranks around that.”
She then went on a steep left turn, taking time to confirm the news we’d all been waiting for, stating “He is directing the next Creed. It’s going to be ammo, I think, for me when he is engaging with me as a director. I’m just going to tell him to dial down the sexiness.”
That’s definitely news the whole fandom is gonna be pleased with, given that Jordan understands the character of Adonis and the Creed franchise like few others.
The film is set to start shooting next year, yet it’s unclear if father of the franchise and Adonis’ mentor Rocky Balboa (played by Sylvester Stallone) will be making a return. But whatever the case, the franchise will be in good hands with Michael B. Jordan leading the way. For now, check out that fucking sick final round from Creed 1 below.
