In an time where reboots and sequels are now the norm, we’ve got a bit of a change up in the form of the trailer for Miles Teller’s new mini-series The Offer, which follows famed The Godfather producer Albert S. Ruddy in his quest to bring the iconic gangster film to the big screen.
OG fans of the 1974 caper would be well aware of the production hell the film went through, with meddling producers, intrusive studios and the mob itself imposing pressure from all directions. It got so intense that at one point the star of the film Al Pacino was nearly fired midway through filming, causing director Francis Ford Coppola to change the filming schedule in order to convince the studio that he was the right man for the job.
The trailer for the ten episode series covers it all, featuring plenty of intense moments between Teller and the studio along with some classic intimidation, courtesy of the mob. The trailer really highlights the anti-gangster film sentiments that were rife within Hollywood in the 70s as well, with almost every producer making their disdain of the now-popular genre clear to Teller throughout the one-minute teaser.
No doubt the trailer will be a trip down memory lane for fans of the 1974 classic. Check it out in full below. While you’re at it, check out Puma’s new The Godfather-inspired shoe drop here.
