Match made in heaven…

There are some actors that are just born to play certain parts. Heath Ledger with the Joker, Robert Downey Jr. with Iron Man, Hugh Jackman with Wolverine, and now, Nicholas Cage with Joe Exotic. I mean, it just makes perfect sense right. Cage being a meme in his own right, and Joe Exotic being possibly the biggest meme on the planet, it’s honestly the perfect marriage. So how lucky are we that Cage has been tapped to play Exotic in a new scripted series from Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios.

According to Variety, the series will be eight episodes and will be based on Leif Reigstad’s Texas Monthly article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild.”

And on the off chance you think Cage isn’t up for it, he recently kicked ass in Richard Stanley’s Color Out of Space, and will be playing a parody version of himself in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. And let’s not forget National Treasure! The man is essentially acting royalty, and you’re gonna need the greatest of acting royalty to play Exotic on the screen.

As you can see we’re quite hyped for this, check out Leif Reigstad’s Texas Monthly article below to see the source material for the show and check out the trailer for Color Out of Space to see Cage do his thing (as always).
