As someone that is regularly saying have you seen that show/scene/skit to my mates (who are usually rolling their eyes), I shamefully admitting to only just seeing ‘The Audition’. The short film is pretty much an extended ad for the casinos owned by Melco Crown Entertainment Limited which is said to have fronted $70 million dollars for the project, with each actor earning a fee of $13 million for their two days of work.
Terrence Winter and Scorsese co-wrote the script which sees De Niro and DiCaprio competing for the same role in and upcoming film. The two regular Scorsese collaborators play themselves and trade barbs as they travel through Asia auditioning for the role… The stakes are low, which lets the iconic director and cast lean into the funnier side of things:

Not bad, ey? The question we now have top ask ourselves is how have we not seen this before? With Killers Of The Flower Moon receiving rapturous reviews around the world, and the Scorsese-De Niro-DiCaprio team having a massive moment in the spotlight, it seems like the appetite for any content involving the three of them is gold, especially little-seen* stuff like the above.
*I’m saying that because one out of four of us plebs in the office had actually seen it.
