AMC+’s latest series ‘Pantheon’ is a sprawling sci-fi epic that blurs the line between the virtual and reality. The story revolves around the heroically angsty teenager Maddie as she quietly suffers following her father’s death. After an eerie user reaches out with cryptic emojis, we get an unravelling tale of mega-corporate conspiracies, mind-melting technologies, and the whereabouts of the afterlife…which might be online.
‘Pantheon’ is the collaborative brainchild of sci-fi author Ken Liu and television heavyweight Craig Silverstein. Both have had extensive careers telling daring stories that push the limitations of fiction and question the human condition. However, this series put their renowned reputations to the test while presenting a new challenge, animation. With the assistance of studio Titmouse, the result is a mature tale intertwined with a plethora of genre visuals. Over eight episodes, ‘Pantheon’ offers an intimate look at familial grieving that dares to ask the intimidatingly existential questions of subsistence.
If that wasn’t enough, we haven’t even gotten to the cast. If you were to put these names on a dart board, you’d hit a bullseye anywhere you aim. The all-star voice cast features Daniel Dae Kim, Katie Chang, Paul Dano , Rosemarie DeWitt, Aaron Eckhart, Taylor Schilling, Ron Livingston, Chris Diamantopoulos, Raza Jaffrey, and William Hurt. Other voice actors for the series include Scoot McNairy, Anika Noni Rose, Maude Apatow, Corey Stoll, Michael Kelly, Grey Griffin, SungWon Cho, Kevin Durand, Samuel Roukin, Krystina Alabado, Lara Pulver, Madhur Jeffrey, Heather Lind, Nyima Funk, Tunde Adebimpe, Quinn Hawking, Clyde Kusatsu, Ken Leung, Jacob Sartorius, Vincent Ventresca, Julian Lerner, Magnus McLain, Ajay Mehta, Annabella Sciorra and Suraj Sharma.
