Deadpool be ballin…

Ryan Reynolds might just be the richest superhero in the world right now, the Deadpool star selling his brand of spirits Aviation Gin for a mountain of cash. When we say “mountain of cash”, we mean around the Everest sort of ballpark, with the actor selling his Aviation Gin for $845 million AUD.

The lucky company who made the huge offer was none other than Spirits giant Diageo, which owns spirits like Smirnoff and Johnnie Walker. The deal features an initial payment of $464 million AUD, with a further $381 million AUD contingent on the sales Aviation American Gin makes in the next ten years. And rest assured, Reynolds will retain an ongoing ownership interest in the gin.

You’d figure once someone comes into such a huge amount of money, they’d become rather up themselves and super serious. But you gotta remember, this is Ryan Reynolds we’re talking about, and of course in classic Deadpool, meta style, he penned a hilarious out-of-office email to go along with the new deal (not the first hilarious out-of-office email he’s penned for the gin, and hopefully not the last).

Now, when someone emails old mate, they’ll get an immediate response saying “Thanks for your email. I am currently out of the office but will still be very hard at work selling Aviation Gin. For quite a long time, it seems.”

Continuing on, the email reads “In related news, I just learned what an ‘earn out’ is … And I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise to everyone I told to go f**k themselves in the last 24 hours. My lawyers just explained how long it takes to achieve an ‘earn out’ … so … turns out I’m not as George Clooney as I thought. The point is, to those listed below, I’m sorry … and I’ll indeed be needing your help in the coming months and years. Thanks in advance!”

Safe to say Reynolds is living the life, what with a flourishing film career and having one of the hottest spirits on the market. All we ask mate is that if you ever need taste testers or a test audience for the next Deadpool, you hit us up first. For now, check out the numerous out-of-office emails Reynolds has penned for Aviation Gin throughout his tenure as owner below.
