Amazon steal a march on their competition with a highly entertaining update.

Thanks to new tech (neural text-to-speech software for all you curious readers) which enables more emotive and expressive speech, Amazon is able to make Alexa’s voice more human than ever as well as adding convincing celebrity voices to its repertoire. Samuel L. Jackson’s voice is first out of the gate with more celebrity voices slated for release in 2020. Importantly, Alexa’s ‘Jackson voice pack’ will be available for purchase in both clean and explicit versions.

Basically, if you ever wanted to hear Coach Carter/Mace Windu/Nick Fury/Shaft/Jules Winnfield’s voice come out of your Amazon smart speaker, you’ll soon be able to. As well as getting the latest news headlines, answers to life’s big questions, restaurant recommendations and what not, you can of course also ask Samuel L. Jackson for a joke at any time (for inspo, follow the link). The alternative voice drops later this year, at which point users will be able to ask Alexa to introduce them to Samuel L. Jackson and install the pack. Here’s hoping that DMX, Bindi Irwin and Aaron Paul, bitch, are on the list for next year’s wider celebrity pack releases.
