So many options…

It’s fair to say this Easter weekend feels a lot different to any in recent years. With the world on lockdown and self-isolation the only real plan for many this weekend, it’d be hard to argue with this being one of the bleakest Easters in recent memory. But never fear, we’ve got streaming services, games, music and FOOD! Why not treat yourself this Easter weekend, I mean you probably would’ve anyway but now you get to do it with lockdown looming over you. Why not indulge in that tasty Easter egg or chocolate cake? There are pizzas by the dozen that are yours for the taking.

Of course, we’re not saying you should swarm your local supermarkets in the hundreds because that wouldn’t be ideal, but if you’ve got the food lying around, or are already on the way to the store, why not? Here are ten cheat foods you should definitely treat yourself to this weekend.

Chocolate

Definitely an easy one. There are plenty of Easter eggs and bunnies on sale at your local supermarket, with shelves full of delicious chocolate that are yours for the taking. Kinder or creme egg? Lindt or Cadbury Easter bunny? These are choices no mere mortal should ever have to make, so you should just buy all of them to make it that much easier. You can suss some tasty Cadbury specials here.

Pizza

I mean it’d be rude not to. Whether you get your fix from Domino’s, Pizza Hut or head down to your local supermarket for a delicious warm up pizza, no matter what, you’re sorted. Good value for money and plenty to go around at home, you can’t go wrong with a solid pizza.

Ice Cream

Even though the weather might not be perfect with it, there’s nothing wrong with a cheeky Cornetto or Magnum. Personally, we’ll be getting on the cookies and cream this weekend. Fancy, I know. Delicious richness and sugary heaven that will give you a gorgeous escape from the outside world, how bloody good.

Cakes

Go Shawty, its your birthday. Oh, it probably isn’t, but regardless, why not cop a solid cake to share with the fam this Easter (or by yourself, either is perfect). Personally, we’ll be getting on those tasty Freddo ice cream cakes from Coles that were at every birthday party when you were a kid. You know the one.

Biscuits

Okay, this probably doesn’t count as a meal, but they would be perfect to cop anyway. A gorgeous Tim Tam or chocolate chip cookie by your side whilst watching Tiger King or studying. We can imagine nothing better.

Hot Cross Buns

There’s no better smell than the aroma of freshly made hot cross buns. It’s unescapable, and makes monotonous shopping trips make it all the while. This might be the most wholesome item on our list. Besides, they have a little holiday quality in them. Curled up to the fire (or heater) with a delicious hot cross bun. Heaven.

Sangas

Simple, tasty and hits the spot. You can’t go wrong with a bunch of sangas this weekend. You can even fire up Zoom and eat with the homies over a couple beers to give Corona the virtual middle finger!

Burgers

Love me a good burgie! Whether they’re homemade or from outside, both are delicious, filling and super simple. Again, another meal that’s perfect for firing up Zoom to give Corona the virtual middle finger with. Eating burgers with your mates over a couple of beers, man I’m getting emotional just thinking about it. I miss doing that.

Pies

Ah, the age old question. Tomato or barbecue sauce on your pie? There’s no easy answer, everyone is right. It’s the food equivalent of the whole “can you put a plus two on a plus four” Uno debate. But regardless, whether you’re heading to your local servo to fill up or heading to the local bakery or supermarket, grabbing a pie is next to effortless. It’s practically begging to be taken. Go on king.

Take Out

Come on, we’re all thinking it. Maccas, KFC, Chinese, Thai, Indian, whatever tickles your fancy. Order from the comfort of your own home with Uber Eats or Menulog as you browse countless menus in lightening time. Practise social distancing whilst exercising that bank account, come on, you know you want to.

There are plenty of options out there, so many in fact it makes it almost harder to decide what you want. But regardless, you should definitely treat yourself to make that lockdown just a bit easier this weekend, you know you deserve it!
