But there’s a twist – they’re calling on Aussies to share their thirst trap selfies on social media. For every enticing snap tagged @SlayThirstTrap and #ThirstTrapsForGood between October 18th and November 1st, Thirst Trap will donate $1 to Ocean Crusaders, a nonprofit cleaning up waterways and oceans.
A range of celebrities have already joined the movement, sharing their playful photos to demonstrate how Aussies can quench their thirst and their inner-Thunberg. OG Red Wiggle Murray Cook, MAFS’ favourite loved-up couple Tahnee Cook and Ollie Skelton, trans advocate Aysha Buffet, ARIA-nominated British-Caribbean R&B artist Chanel Loren and Collingwood’s Patrick Lipinski have already shared their own flirty photos.. The funds raised will support clean-up efforts in Victoria’s Yarra River and New South Wales’ Cooks River this November.
Thirst Trap is a collaboration between H2coco and creative agency Example, aiming to provide a sustainable alternative to bottled water. For co-founders David Freeman (H2coco) and Andy El-Bayeh (Example), ‘Thirst Traps For Good’ is an extension of this commitment to shake up the antiquated water industry and challenge the status quo.
Freeman said: “Let’s face facts: while Australians are embracing eco-friendly lifestyles, 99% of the country’s bottled water industry remains entangled in plastic waste. What we’re offering here is a viable alternative: carbon-neutrally sourced water packaged in endlessly recyclable aluminium. We’re passionate about showing Aussies how they can do things differently – whether it’s ditching plastic and opting for infinitely recycling aluminium cans or turning thirst traps from a scandalous internet trend into something that can support the environment.”
“Water is fundamental, but how we consume it can be revolutionary”, adds El-Bayeh. “Thirst Trap is more than a product; it’s a movement – a call to each Australian to re-evaluate their daily choices for the sake of our shared environment. We’re thrilled that through our partnership with Ocean Crusaders, we’ll be putting our money where our mouth is and helping keep our nation’s water clean and oceans protected.”
“We’re stoked to partner with this great Australian initiative,” said Ocean Crusaders founder Ian Thomson. “Our waterways need so much help. In a previous clean-up of the Cooks River in Sydney, we found a pile of plastic bottles knee-deep. Aluminium cans are a far smarter way to drink water. You can also join us at our events or just pick up debris when you see it. Every bit helps!”
Thirst Trap offers 100% Australian Spring Water sourced from Kinglake, Victoria, and is available at Woolworths stores or Ampol petrol stations. Quench your thirst and help protect the environment – a win-win!
