If there’s one thing we know for sure in this uncertain world, its that Spider-Man actor Tom Holland is absolutely piss poor when it comes to keeping secrets. I mean, don’t get me wrong, he’s nowhere near as bad as Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo, who literally gave away the plot of Avengers: Infinity War in an interview, but still, old mate doesn’t have the best track record.
That is until NOW! Okay, the caps lock might’ve been a bit over the top, but we’re genuinely impressed with Tom’s powers of misdirection here. If you’ve been following the production of Spider-Man 3, you would’ve been hearing news of past Spider-Man actors Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire arriving to set for special cameos, which coincidently linked up with the theory that the next film would explore the multi-verse. Jamie Foxx’s Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has already been confirmed for the film too, which definitely adds fuel to the fire as Foxx’s character is from a completely different timeline to Holland’s webbed crusader.
We might be sounding like conspiracy theorists here, but Holland so much as confirmed the multi-verse theory himself, stating that the upcoming instalment would be the “most ambitious Spider-Man yet.” However, now he seems to be trying to pull a fast one over us, saying in an interview to Esquire “No, no, they will not be appearing in this film. Unless they have hidden the most massive piece of information from me, which I think is too big of a secret for them to keep from me.
“But as of yet, no. It’ll be a continuation of the Spider-Man movies that we’ve been making.”
We call bullshit! I mean, along with all the news of past actors coming to set, the strong rumours of the multi-verse being explored in the new film (as well as that of the next Dr. Strange film), it all seems too coincidental. Plus, Kit Harrington lied for a year with that whole Jon Snow plot line in Game Of Thrones, and it’s not like Marvel are beyond telling a cheeky lie to their fans.
But, it still remains to be seen. No doubt we’ll get all the answers when Spider-Man 3: This Time with No Dancing, drops December 17. For now, check out some moments of Tom giving some major spoilers below.
