The trailer also hints at the behind the scenes drama that permeated the iconic club…

NBA docos and featurettes have been striking a fervent chord with the masses ever since the release of Netflix’s The Last Dance in 2020, with deep-dives into NBA legends and staples helping to reinvigorate interest in the sport. Now, however, streaming service Hulu has come out with an NBA doco of their own, centred around the iconic Los Angeles Lakers.

Set to be released this summer, the trailer for Legacy: The True Story of the L.A. Lakers, showcases the teams rise to prominence in the 90s and early 2000s along with interviews from Lakers legends such as LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Shaq and more. Tying it all together is archival footage from over the years, along with narration from the team’s various coaches and owners from over the years. It seems the latter will be a large focus of the show, with the notorious battle for control of the club amongst former owner Jerry Buss’ children shown to be a major plot point in the two minute teaser.

And of course, Kobe Bryant is ever-present in the teaser, with his various championship rings and his decades-long tenure with the Lakers highlighted heavily, along with various interviews from his time with the club. No doubt fans of the NBA legend will get their Kobe dose and then some when the show is released later this year. For now, check out the full trailer below:
