It’s a widely-acknowledged fact that award shows almost never get it right. Whether it be music, acting or my under 10s soccer presentation night, it seems they almost always miss the mark. And last night, one of them finally got called out for it.
Joining forces at none other than the Emmys, the cast of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia took aim at show, specifically as they’ve never even received a nomination, despite being hailed as one of the greatest TV comedies of all time. The snub has become so widely pronounced that there’s even an entire episode dedicated to it in the show’s ninth season titled “The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award.”
And so, you can imagine the tension that would result from the cast being chosen to present at the show. And the ensemble did indeed turn up, with the likes of Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Kaitlin Olson, and Danny DeVito (collectively known as The Gang), appearing together on the Emmys stage.
And of course, they decided to seize the moment, with the cast acting clueless as to the whole nature of the Emmys due to their never being invited. They even point out the ridiculousness of Danny DeVito winning ‘Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series’ for Taxi which only ran for five years, despite It’s Always Sunny running for over triple that amount of time with no Emmys to show for it.

16 años al aire y nunca nominaron a NADA a It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. La serie más criminalmente menospreciada de la tele yanqui. Y este pedacito fue de lo mejor en la ceremonia. #Emmys pic.twitter.com/5qmbncRjAX
