You gotta pay.

The comedian took to Instagram to ask people to stop streaming Chappelle’s Show on HBO.

If you’ve had the pleasure of watching Chappelle’s Show and some of its iconic skits such as ‘Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories’ or the chronicles of crackhead Tyrone Biggums, you’ll understand why Dave Chappelle is a little peeved right now. His show, which originally screened on CBS/Viacom back in 2003, was recently added to HBO’s streaming service, with Cappelle claiming that he wasn’t consulted nor paid for the deal.

“If you are streaming that show, you are fencing stolen goods,” Chappelle said in an 18-minute IGTV video titled, “Unforgiven.” “They stole that (show) from me, they just took it.”

He then spoke favourably of Netflix who removed the show at his request saying: “(Netflix) agreed that they would take it off their platform just so I could feel better. That’s why I fuck with Netflix because they pay me my money, they do what they say they are going to do and they went above and beyond what you could expect from a businessman.”

Finally, he pleaded with his fans not to stream the show. “I’m begging you – if you ever liked me, if you ever think there was anything worthwhile about me, I’m begging you, please don’t watch that show. I’m not asking you to boycott any network – boycott me. Boycott Chappelle’s Show.’ Do not watch it unless they pay me.”
