It’s safe to say with the world going to absolute shit over the past year, it’s been hard to find an apt representation of Earth on the big screen which is more depressing than ours. Well feast your eyes and ears beauties, as some Hollywood honchos have spent an absolute fucktonne on the new Godzilla vs. Kong movie, and the trailer shows that somehow, there’s a reality out there that’s even more fucked up than ours.
The trailer for the new monster epic sees the roles changed from the last Godzilla movie, as King Kong takes the role of the good guy this time around. Specifically, he seems to give a shit about humanity due to his connection to a young girl, which motivates him to be our guardian angel (or gorilla).
Whereas Godzilla, well, is an absolute twat this time around. Wrecking boats, killing countless people and just racking up a colossal amount in public damage, it’s fair to say he’s a colossal douche in the upcoming instalment. But, there’s plenty of battles, carnage and mayhem, so we’re not mad at old mate Zilla.
The movie as a whole however is pretty well-summed up by a voice in the trailer that says “There was a war,” as King Kong is shown man-handling flying beast like a fucking badass, before the voice concludes “And are the last two standing.” It’s not clear what the war was about and why Godzilla and Kong are even fighting in the first place, but I’m sure we’ll be finding that out rather soon.
The film is set to drop in theatres and on HBO Max on March 26. Check out the full trailer below.
