Where else are alligators supposed to fight?

It’s safe to say the world is in strange shape in 2020. A pandemic taking hold across the globe, countless cities coming out of month-long lockdowns, and tensions flaring up between international superpowers. So, it’s kind’ve unsurprising to find out that two alligators have been filmed in the alligator-equivalent of a punch on. I mean, there’ll probably be five things just as crazy to be reported by lunch.

But regardless, unsuspecting golfer Matthew Proffitt and his mate were treated to a war of monumental proportions at a South Carolina Golf Club on Thursday, witnessing two alligators indeed going at it at no-holds barred style. Totally minding their own business and just hitting the green, the pair were approaching the 18th hole when they saw the commotion.

“They would lay still for a few minutes, with their jaws locked on each other, and then try to roll or shake,” Proffitt recalled. “The fight went on for about two hours.”

“Put me down for a five.”

Apparently alligators are common in the area, so Proffitt had no worries getting as close as he could to the scuffle (WTF!) to get some footage of the encounter.

The daring camera crew moved onto the 19th hole no dramas, fingers crossed the two alligators have made up by now…
