The horror-comedy is a delicate dichotomy notoriously difficult to capture, the two genres existing on such polar opposites of the movie-scape. But Freaky, directed by Christopher Landon and starring Vince Vaughn, Kathryn Newton and numerous more, might have just struck that perfect sweet spot that so many horror-comedies strive for.
The film follows a young high school student Millie (played by Kathryn Newtown) who’s your classic goofy high school student. However, things take a turn when a deranged serial killer (played by Vince Vaughn) attempts to murder her. But, by some act of divine intervention, the two swap bodies before Vaughn is successful, with Millie waking up in her killer’s (Vaughn’s) body while the killer wakes up in hers.
The film follows Millie as she attempts to get her body back, yet things get complicated with her killer proving to be super popular (and deadly) in his new body. The premise is absolute gold, and makes for some hilarious comedic moments that both Vaughn and Newton absolutely smash.
The film is set to be released in cinemas November 13 (which is of course a Friday). Check out the trailer below.
