Despite seemingly constant teasing of a High School Musical reboot to his day-oners, Hollywood hunk Zac Efron is still finding time to take up the mantle of action heartthrob, staring in the upcoming war drama, The Greatest Beer Run Ever.
Based on real life events, the film revolves around Efron’s John ‘Chickie’ Donohue, who’s virtually hellbent on delivering bevs to his mates in the army during the Vietnam War. However, like most beer runs, it doesn’t go according to plan, and almost immediately old mate is exposed to just how cooked war really is. The trailer, however, conveys a distinctively comedic tone despite the dark subject matter, with Efron’s Donohue thrown into a range of high pressure circumstances yet maintaining an obvious lightheartedness (which is of course enhanced by that filthy stache he dons throughout the teaser).
And as if he didn’t receive enough hate for his god-awful Greek accent in Thor: Love & Thunder, Russell Crowe attempts a Brooklyn slight of tongue in his portrayal of war photographer Arthur Coates, who serves as Efron’s sidekick throughout the teaser. Admittedly, the pair make quite a compelling duo, with the tail half of the trailer showing them to seemingly sail through various life and death situations with ease. So much so that their on-screen chemistry might just make up for Crowe’s shortcomings in the linguistic department. But decide for yourself via the trailer below.
