Hardcore and casual fans will remember that when Zack Snyder dropped the trailer for his version of Justice League, he ended it in the perfect way possible: with the inclusion of Jared Leto’s Joker saying “we live in a society.” The moment gave birth to countless memes (naturally) and thus countless fans were keen to witness the moment in all of its glory. Well, the scene ended up not being in the film, but Snyder has our backs, releasing the full scene on Twitter.
To give a bit of context, the scene takes place during at the end of the film during the Knightmare sequence, where Bats and Joker share a pretty deep conversation. Well, it’s mostly Batman talking about the promise he made a dying Harley Quinn to kill Joker slowly, a promise he heavily emphasises he intends to honour. At one point he even slips in a swear word, which is super weird to see a superhero do besides Deadpool (wrong cinematic universe I know).
Then Leto delivers the infamous line from the trailer, replying “We live in a society” before adding “where honor is a distant memory.” The camera then pans out to show a burning city, and bloody hell, it’s depressing to say the least.
