Ever been shopping for the latest Yeezy Boost drop or a limited edition Vans X Opening Ceremony collab or a vintage pair of Jordan 1s and stumbled across a pair that are too good to be true? Mint condition, cheap and ready to ship – it sounds like you’ve hit the jackpot, but just before you click ‘buy’ or throw out a bid, you start to wonder why nobody else has swooped in… why does this seller have barely any ratings? Are you about to be sold a limited edition pair of fakes?
No one likes feeling like they’ve been played for a fool, and now you don’t have to worry about it ever again with eBay’s new “Authenticity Guarantee” badge. Essentially, eBay have opened up authentication centres in New York and Las Vegas where vendors can send their shoes to be authenticated by third party experts who verify them, guaranteeing you shoe is the real deal. They are also covering all authentication costs including the cost of international delivery, which means delivery will be free on most badged listings.
Basically you can shop knowing that every Jordan, Yeezy, Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Vans, Asics, Reebok, Converse or Puma you’re looking at with a badge is 100% legit, kinda like a blue check for sneakers. For the moment, you can only get your authentication if you’re a US-based seller, though in the coming months it’s expected to head Down Under.
