SpongeBob has entered the warped world of Mambo.

SpongeBob and Patrick have been sewn into the fabric of culture since the show hit our TV screens in the 90’s. Outside of the 300+ episodes, the characters and lore of Bikini Bottom have been mined for memes, fashion, movies and everything in between. SpongeBob simply will not quit. But we’ve gotta say, we’ve never seen an interpretation of this world quite like Mambo and artist Ben Brown’s latest drop.

The nine-piece collection is a stark reminder of why we love Mambo. It’s taken SpongeBob’s colourful world and added an extra element of weirdness (or maybe just elevated the already existing weirdness), with X-rays, a surfing Patrick and a revved-up SpongeBob all popping (or floating) up across the range. Of course, one of Australia’s most iconic characters, the legendary Farting Dog, has also been given a makeover that ought to go straight to the pool room… or maybe your wardrobe.

The limited-edition collection features six menswear styles and three youth styles, with artwork from Mambo’s resident X-ray artist Ben Brown and Creative Director Nathan Sheahan. With the team heading to Melbourne’s cult burger spot Easey’s for the campaign which totally encapsulated the bright and irreverent vibes of the range.

“SpongeBob SquarePants is one of the world’s most iconic cartoon characters. Like Mambo, it’s a true cross-generational icon. We’re excited to launch this limited-edition collaboration exclusively with Big W across its network of 180 stores,” Mambo Business Manager Matt Macaulay says of the drop.
