Perfect timing from the Western Sydney powerhouse.

You know that feeling where you don’t want a night to end? If you don’t you’re either that person who is the last one standing or maybe you need to get out a bit more… Either way, the new track from Becca Hatch not only is about that time of a night, but it also is exactly the kind of tune that will pull you back to the dance floor long after bedtime.

“‘Bass Keeps Calling’ is a track about a night out in all its chaos,” Becca says. “A crowded space full of sweaty bodies, dancing, singing, and getting dizzy. It almost quite literally is about when you feel the Bass hit in a song and you don’t want to leave. At the time I was really inspired by nights out dancing among friends to good music.”

“The communal experience of a DJ playing a remix of one of your fav songs and the feeling of awe when the drop comes in and everyone is together bouncing to the same beat. I really wanted to make something that reminded me of that feeling. I found myself constantly drawn to events like Hotter Out West, where not only was the music good, the crowd and DJs looked and came from West Sydney like me.”

Hatch recorded the track in Castlemaine (regional Victoria) in a “small dusty studio” with the likes of Tentendo, Lucy Blomkamp, KIAN and Hau Latukefu. The beat was composed by Tentendo with Hatch and Kian immediately drawn to it, and the melodies and lyrics flowed from there.

Oh yeah, even legendary producer Timbaland is on board:

The accompanying clip embodies the song’s energy with blurry transitions, glitchy edits capturing the mood of a big night out perfectly. “The music video become a literal visual representation of the song. We basically had a party and captured it on camera,” Hatch says. “A big shoutout to the crew who were apart of the music video, AISON, Hotter Out West, and Pretty Soon.”

You can experience ‘Bass Keeps Calling’ live at the Becca Hatch – Bass Keeps Calling show at Mary’s Underground in Sydney as part of Great Southern Nights on March 21. Ticket and information HERE.
