Despite globe-trotting around the world being one of the biggest DJs on the planet, renowned producer and selector Peggy Gou has found time to serve up one of the collabs of the year, teaming up with none other than rock legend (and architecture maestro) Lenny Kravitz, for a thrilling new single titled ‘I Believe In Love Again’.
The tempo is slightly slowed down from Peggy’s usual dancefloor thumpers, with the ‘Starry Night’ hitmaker utilising steady synths that have an ember-like quality to them, as she crafts a minimal soundscape for Kravitz to let loose on. Of course, Kravitz responds in kind, utilising an airy falsetto as he sings a seductive vocal about falling in love and courtship. Peggy herself treats us to some of her own vocals, utilising a mid-track narration that affirms the magic of dance floors and groove. It’s a dynamite offering from the pair, one that emanates the peak of 90s pop, R&B and house.
Speaking on the collab and her decision to collaborate with Kravitz, Peggy explains, “The 90s have had such a huge influence on my music. People know about my love of the dance/house/rave scene from that time but I’ve always been a big R&B fan, and also a huge fan of Lenny. I listened endlessly to his 1998 album 5 – my personal favourite – but his whole discography is great, totally timeless.
“’I Believe In Love Again’ is a strong message of positivity and hope, and we hope everyone feels that when they hear the song.”
It’s another home run from the dance phenom, and comes just in time for her upcoming Aussie tour which will see her take to the likes of Beyond The Valley and Wildlands festival over New Years Eve. So, it’s fitting that she be our Artist of the Week. Check out the full song above and be sure to buy/stream it here. You can also check out our gallery from her UNSW Roundhouse show last year here.
