New year, new Spacey!

With each year people regularly close one chapter and begin another. However, when its one of the nation’s biggest bands, that whole process can be just a bit more hectic. WA sweethearts, Spacey Jane, seem to be taking it al in stride however, especially with the release of their first single of the year, ‘One Bad Day’.

The track is a laid back groove that doubles down on the more easy-going and vulnerable parts of the iconic Spacey Jane sound as frontman Caleb Harper sings about the tendency to overreact and walk away from something good due to a failure to see the bigger picture. Subsequently, his vocals are tinged with a bittersweet nostalgia as he sings lines like ‘This is the last time I feel like this” as he affirms his commitment to being more present and less trigger happy with his emotions.

The rest of the Spacey crew are in fine form on the track, with bassist Pepper providing a zesty baseline that allows guitarist Ashton and drummer Kieran to go ham on. However, despite the song having all the hallmarks of the band[s signature sound, it definitely listens like a bookend to the band’s Here Comes Everybody era, all the while laying the groundwork for their highly anticipated new LP. So, it’s fitting that they be this week’s Artist of the Week. Check out ‘One Bad Day’ below and be sure to buy/stream it here.
