If you’re looking for another friend to add to the Bicycle club, I’m available…

As if reading our collective minds and sending that we need some wholesomeness to tide us over into 2024, English rock outfit Bombay Bicycle Club have unveiled a tasty new single.

Titled ‘Fantasneeze’, the new single is a whimsical bop that is driven forth by frontman Jack Steadman’s tenor vocals, as he’s accompanied by some airy harmonies (courtesy of Matilda Mann) and a tender guitar tar line. The curation of the various elements harkens back to Beatles classics like ‘Here Comes The Sun’ as they craft a track that would fit right at home in the Flower Child generation of the 1960s and 70s.

It’s a treat of a single, one that’s set to be made all the more sweeter with the announcement of the band’s upcoming EP, Fantasies, which is set to be released on 23rd February. A slight departure from their last LP, My Big Day, the new project is a true collaborative effort, with artists like Lucy Rose, Rae Morris, Liz Lawrence and Matilda Mann all featuring on the track listing.

Explaining how the EP came to be, the band explain, “When we decided to hold ‘Fantasneeze’ back for its own release after the album, we kept working and finished off three other songs in short order. We think of this as a ‘Bombay & Friends’ release because each song has a good friend of the band singing on it. Some are old friends with long-term, close associations to the band while Matilda Mann is a newer collaborator” while adding that its still “very much a continuation of My Big Day“.

To top things off, the band are putting sustainability at the forefront with the new release, announcing that the physical release of the Fantasies EP will be limited to 2,500 10” vinyl copies, made from eco-mix vinyl—recycled offcuts from other pressings. It’s a welcome step forward that will no doubt continue to become more common as time goes on, and adds an extra bit of sentiment to the already blissful Fantasies EP. For now, be sure to pre-order it here and buy/stream ‘Fantasneeze’ here.
