The impact of AI is being felt over every creative industry, especially music. There’s a tension simmering as artists now are forced to embrace the new technologies and navigate the ever-changing path ahead. It’s this sentiment that EARTHGANG have honed in on this in their new EP ROBOPHOBIA which has just dropped today.
We find ourselves in the hands of AI after the fall from the top of the building from our RIP HUMAN ART cover,” explains EARTHGANG. “Our bodies are being operated and altered to become symbiotic with technology under AI’s discretion. Hopefully, the rebels save us before we’re robotic slaves. The video imitates life as we become more connected and sometimes dependent on technology. The song asks, ‘can we love ourselves as we are without need for constant system updates and improvements?’”

The five-track EP which features Snoop Dogg, Spillage Village and Tommy Newport sways between futurist funk and neo-psych, with the duo’s immaculate bars a constant. It’s an immersive listen with their talent for world building, which was evident on last year’s RIP Human Art EP, taking centre stage. It echoes fellow Atlantans Outkast’s ability to deliver cohesive concept LPs (even if they had to split them into two sides!)
Last year EARTHGANG hit Aus supporting Genesis Owusu – here’s hoping that we may be able to lure them back Down Under for some shows sometime soon. For now, dive into ROBOPHOBIA and buy/stream it here.
