Sydney-based beat maker Basenji has taken over the internet and airwaves alike with his bright and bold kawaii-styled tunes, hilarious social media presence – rivalling even puppies in search engines. Having just dropped his latest track ‘Petals’ from his forthcoming debut EP set to drop on Future Classic in August, he gives Life Without Andy his Top Five Tips on Being a Stylish Top Dog.

Check out Basenji’s latest track below while you’re checking out the online shopping he’s recommended.

1. Etsy

I have used Etsy for a few years and I am still really into it. It’s a great place to find second hand, vintage or handmade items. I buy a lot of clothes here and it’s a really good place to find one off things that maybe don’t exist elsewhere. Pls follow me xx

2. Distal Phalanx

As far as physical stores go, I really like Distal Phalanx in Melbourne. They stock really different brands to everywhere else and often host exclusive items and apparel. They put a lot of thought into curating a specific image for their brand and because they don’t have an online store you have to either contact the owner or visit the shop.

3. Cabramatta

Recently I have been spending a lot of time in Cabramatta in Sydney’s South West. It’s a really good place to find cheap and sometimes strange clothing and accessories. Below is a photo of some bizarre mannequins I encountered. Also Cabramatta is a really good place to go to get food! I strongly recommend Pho Tau Bay!

4. Buyee

I have been really into Buyee Japan which is a shopping service for overseas customers to buy products from Yahoo Auctions Japan (A domestic equivalent to Ebay). It is a great alternative to a lot of other online shopping platforms because you can find a lot of different products. There is also Yahoo Auctions Hong Kong and Taiwan but I am yet to check them out!

5. Instagram

Instagram is a great way to follow different brands, stores and personalities and keep up to date with everything new. I have found a lot of stuff by going through people’s photos and seeing which brands they have tagged or which stores they have been in.
