Over six years since the release of her last full-length album Lemonade, Beyoncé has today unveiled the first taste of the follow up to the critically-acclaimed record, venturing into the dance realm for her latest single ‘Break My Soul’.
The tune sees the veteran superstar make use of tropical synths and fiery vocals as she sings about self-realisation and fulfilment in spite of adversity. It’s definitely got the air of defiance that was present on Lemonade and past singles ‘Black Parade’ and ‘Brown Skin girl’, a sentiment which is further enhanced by the hip hop verse that sees her flex her rapper muscle for all to see.
It’s a magnetic single, one whose release defied the rules of even Queen Bey herself, dropping three hours earlier than the official release date on hers and husbands streaming service, Tidal. Whether or not the ‘Single Ladies’ singer will stray from the release date of Renaissance remains to be seen, but considering it’s slated for a July 29th release, we won’t have to wait too long either way. For now, check out ‘Break My Soul’ below.
