In the latest twist of this seemingly never-ending Fyre Festival saga, Billy McFarland, the infamous mastermind behind the failed festival, has challenged his (literal) partner in crime, Ja Rule, to a boxing match.
During a recent sit-down with DJ Akademiks, McFarland announced his challenge to Ja Rule, while facetiming with a promoter who claimed that someone was willing to pay a whopping $350,000 to watch the two go head-to-head in the ring. But before you start worrying about the ethical implications of paying money to watch two white-collar criminals duke it out, rest assured that the proceeds from the event would go to the unpaid Fyre Festival employees in the Bahamas… and we know we can trust Billy when it comes to money…
It seems like a clever marketing ploy from McFarland, who’s supposedly gearing up for the second iteration of Fyre Festival. This is despite the fact that the first attempt at the luxury festival was a colossal failure, resulting in multiple lawsuits, arrests, and a whole lot of angry festival-goers who were promised a lavish experience on a private island but instead found themselves stranded with no food or shelter.
McFarland’s announcement of Fyre Festival II on Twitter was met with mixed reactions, with many people expressing outrage that he would even consider attempting to pull off another festival after the disaster of the first one. But McFarland seems undeterred, and now he’s throwing down the gauntlet to Ja Rule in a bid to raise money for the unpaid staff who were left in the lurch after the first festival fell apart.
