It’s been a little while between drinks from the Eastern Suburbs frother The Beefs.

Last year they gave us venomous jam ‘Red Bellied Black Snake’, which you may have seen featured on John John Florence’s Maps of Home part, before they were forced into hiding by covid like the rest of us. Now, the supergroup, whose members include Sammy Smith, Kirin J Callinan and Julian Sudek, return with their most refined track to date, ‘Punchin’’.

Shining a light on the social conundrum that occurs when a bloke pulls a chick that is way out of his league, The Beefs bravely push through the awkwardness and address the issue head on. The track sonically belongs somewhere in between GANGgajang and Men At Work on a jukebox, with Callinan’s tasty guitar lines reminding us of Josh Homme’s work in Eagles Of Death Metal; sizzling.

Head here to follow The Beefs on IG and stay tuned for more from them. We’ve got a feeling that the trio will be out and about playing shows in no time!
