Strange way to start a collaboration…

Twitter is without a doubt the definition of a double edged sword. Being able to unite and divide, spread love and hate, you literally never know what you’re gonna get out of the social media service. However, a true blessing on it over the past couple weeks has been R&B legend Dionne Warwick, who has been using the site to interact with her fans while taking shots at younger artists who currently are leading the music game.

One such artist she took a shot at was Chance The Rapper, taking to Twitter to ask ‘Hi, @Chancetherapper. If you are very obviously a rapper why did you put it in your stage name? I cannot stop thinking about this.’

The tweet seemed to go over quite well with Chano, who replied ‘Sorry I’m still freaking out that u know who I am. This is amazing!’ while adding ‘I will be whatever you wanna call me Ms Warwick. God bless you.’

Now, it seems the two are somehow working on new music together, as according to Chano’s interview on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Speaking on his new found friendship to Stephen, Chance said “I was very surprised that she knew who I was,” Chance admits. “But it was awesome. We’re working on a song.”

In obvious shock and disbelief, Colbert stopped Chance to confirm if he was actually working on a song with Dionne Warwick, which Chance indeed confirmed, calling the opportunity “a huge, immense honour.”

Chano also opened up on what it’s been like since Warwick roasted him, saying it feels like his “first taste of fame,” adding that “I went to Starbucks the other day and they’re like, ‘Are you the guy who got tweeted by Dionne Warwick?’”

Pretty wholesome stuff. The rest of the interview saw Chance reminiscing on his breakout mixtape 10 Day (real ones remember) as well as how he and his wife Kirsten are handling lockdown with their kids and much more. Check out the full interview below.
