Drizzy is joining the faux-meat boom.
Is it just me or is fake meat having a crypto-like boom. It seems that everyone realises that it’s the future and people who have money to invest are going all in on it. That includes a bunch of famous millionaires like Jay Z and Serena Williams, and now our favourite Canadian sadboy Drake who has thrown an undisclosed amount of money behind vegan “meat” producers Daring Foods.
The Los Angeles company specialises in fake chicken has raised $US40 million in series B funding, which is basically a stage of fundraising companies do after securing their first commercial deals (yes, I had to google that). It comes well after Drake, who has an estimated net worth of $US180 million, declared he was becoming a vegetarian on Twitch three years ago
This cash injection will help the company expand into about 4,500 US stores, and who knows, maybe one day we’ll be gobbling Drake’s chicken here in Australia…
