Look no further for fresh tunes.

It’s that time of the month again where we look around for fresh local talent that has pricked our ears, and this month we’ve got quite the list. Have a gander below, follow our Spotify playlist, and get out there and catch some live music.

Ahlia Williams

Newcastle 20-year-old Ahlia William’s debut track ‘I’m Your Man’ has got levels of cheek and depth (at the same time) that makes it feel like it came from the mind of a plucky trailer-park girl, who’s a little pissed off. Capturing the attitude of Peaches and harbouring the depth of PJ Harvey, we haven’t heard a debut tune this strong in a long while, and we doubt you have either.

Boydos

Sydney crooner Boydos has returned with a follow-up single to his 2018 track ‘Plans’, and (thankfully) ‘I Get Nervous’ picks up right where it left off. Something of an ode to mortality, the accompanying clip sees a pooch-carrying, skivvy-rocking Boydos dancing for his life as he is cornered by hooded strangers. Check it out below and catch Boydos at Freda’s on the 14th of March – info here.

Tesse & Georgia Mulligan

One of the more chilled songs to make its way to the Local Without Spotify playlist, ‘Over Now’ by Tesse and Georgia Mulligan sees the intoxicating marriage of two of our favourite voices in Sydney. Hauntingly sung, with an air of dark romanticism, the duet feels like it could have been a long lost B-side from Nick Cave’s Murder Ballads, and we guarantee it will suck you right in.

Pleasure Coma

It’s been a long time coming for us fans of Sydney party-rockers Pleasure Coma, and (finally) we have their debut EP Naked. Awash with gritty guitars, danceable rhythms, and more hooks than a bait and tackle shop, the lads haven’t held anything back – which is pretty much their ethos when they play live too. Catch them on a national tour this month (info and dates here), you won’t regret it.

WAAX

Brisbane punk powerhouse WAAX are back with a brand new anthemic number ‘FU’. Can you guess what that stands for? Anyways, we’re thinking between this track and last year’s ‘Labrador’ the five-piece are well on their way to dropping a bloody ripper debut full-length. Get keen.
