Triple J don Shantan Wantan Ichiban does a shitload of parties all across Sydney, and tonight he’s taking over tropical Darlinghurst joint The Cliff Dive for another edition of Silk Pyjamas. As the name suggests, this is all about the smooth and sexy – lots of classic R&B and soul that’s made for dancefloor grinding. We’re also hoping for a Tinashe medley. This time around, it’s a Melbourne takeover with Larrie & Mimi making the trip up north to drop some bangers. Tomorrow night, Larrie will be backing it up by playing at Halfway Crooks’ Drake Dedication Party which has sold out – but you might find someone selling tickets on the Facebook event page. Good luck!
Sidechains recently found a new home in Plan B Small Club, and they’ve continued to deliver wild parties filled with eclectic electronic sounds straight from the digital age. This time around, it’s hugely-hyped local producer Anatole delivering a headline DJ set, while supports include Sidechains regular TeachesOfPeaches. Expect to hear a lot more from Sidechains in the near future – they’ll be teaming up with heavyweight promoters BBE for their Winter Weekender series of gigs, which will see them co-present a show from Fatima Al Qadiri.
We’ve been lucky enough to watch Iron Maiden’s mammoth live show a few times before, and it’s something that everyone should experience at least once in this lifetime. Expect wailing guitar solos, mesmerising sing-a-longs, plenty of stage props and theatrics galore. There’s a reason that Iron Maiden haven’t diminished like other 80s metal staples – their live show is still energetic as hell, and witnessing ‘Fear Of The Dark‘ and ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name‘ live is an experience that can’t be put into words. We know a lot of ~farshun bloggers~ have been wearing Iron Maiden tees for a few years now, but maybe you should actually see their concert too! Hopefully you’ve had time to grow your hair and drench your denim vest in bourbon in preparation for the show.
Adelaide producer Motez has been crafting serious house heaters for some time now – every time we mention him online we have to give props for this edit of Madison Avenue’s ‘Don’t Call Me Baby’ – and he delivered once again with his The Vibe EP. Featuring collaborations with local heroes like Tkay Maidza and Wax Motif, the hype behind the April release has been significant, evidenced by the fact that his headline show at Oxford Art Factory has sold out. However, there will be a handful of tickets available on the door – get down there early to secure your spot. This will be a sweaty evening.
After throwing her Naughty Noughties party over the long weekend, Sydney selector Nes is coming back to The Cliff Dive with ‘One In A Million’, a long night of hip-hop for lovers. Think about all the great crossover duets we’ve had over the years – think ‘Dilemma’ by Nelly & Kelly Rowland and ‘Always On Time’ by Ja Rule & Ashanti – and prepare for six hours of romance on the dancefloor. Nes will be joined by locals Matka, GCOO & Nickles, so if you’re looking for first date ideas, head down to The Cliff Dive and woo your potential spouse with elegant dance moves.
