Astral People & Low Ton are joining forces for an exclusive Sydney debut show from Father, one of the more unusual DIY talents coming out of Atlanta. Flying the flag for the ever-impressive and diverse Awful Records, Father has a knack for producing eccentric rap music with equally excellent titles: Young Hot Ebony, Who’s Gonna Get Fucked First? and I’m A Piece of Shit. On support we have Yemisul (Girls/IZMZ) and Low Ton’s in-house crew, while Slim Set will also be appearing after the release of their debut Teething EP, which we premiered right here.
Having sold out their Sydney headline show last October, Lime Cordiale have tacked on two more hometown gigs to the tail end of their Waking Up Easy tour, named after the single which had a strong presence on airwaves and streaming services towards the end of 2016. The Northern Beaches crew will be playing tonight at Oxford Art Factory before an Under 18s show for the youngens tomorrow arvo.
It’s been awhile, but the One Dayers are back with another infamous block party – and while it isn’t quite One Day Sundays, they’ll be taking over the spacious areas of The Greenwood Hotel this afternoon with an absolutely mammoth lineup. Usual suspects Joyride, Raph and Lupi will be joined by some of Sydney’s favourite DJs like Shantan Wantan Ichiban, Nes, Klasik and the GIRLS trio, while Elefant Traks’ Newcastle representative JayTeeHazard will also be spinning. Kicking off in the arvo and stretching until 11:00pm, this one is looking very large. A couple of tickets left online, and a few more on the door.
Sydney’s longstanding monthly hip-hop party Halfway Crooks is back in 2017, and this time it’s a family affair: Kool dads Levins & Franco will be joined by Swiss Dank members Ma$e and $ean’Don, and if the dollar signs are anything to go by, this night will be right on the money with lots of ignorant trap bangers and Southern hospitality.
Sydney’s 2017 resolution should be having more party’s where there are Gucci monograms on the flyer. Rapp Payback have the right idea, with their very fancy (yet very free) party going down at The Gladdy, with five hours of power from 10:00pm to last drinks. Atro, Cache One and the dynamic duo of Ebondy Boadu and Yemisul all appearing, with interstate friend Fletch also getting it done!
DJ Helena Ellis is kickstarting her new residency at The Argyle, providing Sydneysiders with a Sunday session that’s completely free! Championing hip-hop from the 90s, 00s and now, Helena will be joined by Shantan Wantan Ichiban, Lavia, Bruno Who and Mike Champion holding it down on emcee duties! We love free stuff!
