Won’t have to wait for that EP much longer…

Melbourne alt-rocker Hayley Mary is hitting us in the face with drippy songwriting and storytelling this Wednesday, releasing her new tune ‘The Drip’ along with some accompanying visuals.

The title track from her upcoming sophomore EP The Drip (out 18th June) sees the veteran muso call back to her time living in Scotland, curating the tune out of napkin scribbles, phrases and images that would come to her mind while she was living and working in Edinburgh. It seems to be a pretty efficient way of songwriting, the resulting track being a hard-hitting power-anthem that sees the former Jezabels lead singer go totally wild in terms of vocal delivery and lyrical content.

The accompanying visuals match the intensity of the track, following Hayley throughout a dark Melbourne night as she sings the track to the camera up close and personal, all while losing herself to its high octane energy with uninhibited movements and choreography through the cityscape. There’s also a fun blooper at the end where she spins and collides with the camera (and cameraman); the things we do for out art hey?

Regardless of unintentional camera-colliding, the track and visual bass definitely got us keen for the full EP when it drops June 18th. But until then, we’re more than happy to keep ‘The Drip’ on replay. Check it out below.
