No Coal Zone takes over the Hordern Pavillion on March 14th.

Announced just this morning, English producer and DJ Jamie XX will be teaming up with ClientEarth to throw a massive anti-coal party in Sydney next weekend. Joining the man responsible for hits such as ‘Gosh’ and ‘Loud Places’ will be Aussie electro icons The Avalanches, early 2000s hitmakers Midnight Juggernauts, Sydney party-starters Heaps Gay, Ptwiggs, DeepFaith and a special screening of Jonathan Zawada x Mark Pritchard’s ‘The Four Worlds’.

Coal mining, shipping and burning is the biggest cause of global warming and Australia is linked (via our own usage or export) to more than our fair share of the dirty fossil fuel. As the government struggles to cut its ties with its fossil fuel industry donors, it seems that more and more artists and musicians are stepping up to face this existential threat while our leaders cower behind meaningless rhetoric and pathetic slogans.

“I’ve spent a lot of time in Australia over the past decade and each time I come I’m inspired to make music,” Jamie XX says of the event. “I’m always blown away by its awe-inspiring nature, the unrivalled friendliness of its people and the quality of its Doofs. The loss it’s suffered has been a blow to people all around the world, so it felt only right to come back this year and help raise money through this party… The work ClientEarth are doing to stop the building of future coal fired power stations will hugely cut the planet’s carbon emissions and will help to slow the devastating effects of global warming”.
