The much-loved MTV Unplugged is making its Australian debut next month, with one of the country’s fastest rising bands in tow.

For decades, MTV Unplugged has featured the world’s biggest artists delivering stripped-back, intimate performances of their hits. Now, MTV Unplugged Melbourne will be arriving at Cobblestone Pavilion on July 25, where Gang of Youths will be performing songs from their chart-topping album Go Farther in Lightness.

MTV Unplugged is pretty extraordinary,” Dave Le’aupepe of the band says. “To hear the crackles in their voice, something that feels intimate and really powerful.”

The performance will take place in front of a live audience, as well as being broadcast on television and streamed online. Melbourne’s love for Gang of Youths is very clear, with the band playing a whopping eight shows in the city on their upcoming Say Yes To Life tour.
