Sydney three-piece SCK CHX explore age and love in captivating new video for ‘Feel The Same.’

Only a year since their first release, things are looking sunny for Sydney three-piece SCK CHX.
Their enticing blend of psych, punk and pop has earned them a reputation as an excitingly hypnotic live force, and has also garnered the attention of triple j and FBi for their singles Spinning Around’ and ‘Stuck In The Mud.’ Plus, this acoustic track with Triple One is neat! It’s fair to say that things are going pretty well, pretty quickly for the group.

Now they deliver us a shiny new clip for ‘Feel The Same,’ the third single of their debut EP Downward Dog which is due out early April. Combining dreamy 80’s power-pop verses with thrashy punk choruses, there’s somewhat of a split personality wrapped up in the bouncy number, which the group handle effortlessly. According to singer Josh Pearson, the odd coupling was a conscious decision which reflects the push and pull of young love.

“It’s about clashing with someone you love, but knowing deep down – or at least hoping – that things are going to be okay when you work shit out,” Josh says.

The video, which was directed by Troy Baird, follows an older couple as they play the oh too familiar cat and mouse game of courtship. It’s a clever take on a story as old as time that is beautifully shot in cold environment which again, like the song, makes for a thoughtful contrast.

“Having scored a few of Troy’s short films, I knew he’d create an emotive, intimate story around the meaning of the track, and he nailed it – with such cinematic quality. He chose a dusty old RSL club in Bondi and organised a much older cast of around 30 people,” Josh says.

SCK CHX debut EP Downward Dogs will be out April 6th, and you they’re throwing a party to launch it at The Botany View on the April 13th (info here).
